Patience Pays Off
Patience during the holidays is like watching a small child try to hold onto a balloon…it goes out the window. Between hectic parking lots at malls, crazy families, airports, overcommitted schedules, grad class finals, etc. my patience has been weaning. I don’t like to sit still for too long, but boy does it feel good. My 2 weeks off from teaching and grad school has included: 1...

New Year, New Resolution: Balance
I resolve to find balance. Balance in teaching, grad classes, family life, friends, workouts, etc. etc. etc. Life is full of balance, and that’s what I’m working toward. Thank goodness for fabulous and understanding husbands :)

9 Days...
I absolutely hate the fact that I’m counting down to my breaks. The truth though, is that I am completely exhausted. If I hear anyone scream my name out across the room, or tell me that they want to study “Uranus” I’m going to lose it. I have final projects due for grad school next week, and teaching full time. It will all get done, and be fine, but my motivation is low.

What is proficient?
Lately, I’ve been questioning: What is proficient? Proficient is this totally ambiguous term that means everything and nothing to our students. Few know what proficient looks like. In fact, I question it as well. What’s sufficient in one classroom isn’t in another. Our school’s version of proficient for the amount of ELLs we have is completely different than another...
